I have a 4 years. old miniature poodle who is in good health. who has had Lyme disease since she was 6 months. old?
was given antibiotics, sometimes when she refused to eat (the sign that Lyme is acting up). last month or so has been diarrhea. led him to the vet and they prescribed metronidazole. I gave it to him for 10 days and that was fine. few days off the medication, which she started having diarrhea again. the vet put him in another 10 days. (through all this has been doing well, eating, playing, etc.) How long can a dog stay on this medication? my vet said that some Dogs must stay on this for a couple of months before the symptoms disappear. any dog owner has a similar problem>? I'm worried.
I do not have to use this drug in my dogs, but where I work, we had to use it for dogs boarding with us if they get upset stomach, but only give them 1 or 2 which tend to be better after that.
